Member Organizations

Southern Orthopaedic Association, founded in 1906, a non-profit educational organization with 2000 members, whose purposes are to develop and foster scientific medicine in the specialty of orthopaedic surgery and to provide a forum for the exchange of original, practical, medical and surgical information. 

Clinical Orthopaedic Society, founded in 1912, a non-profit educational organization with 750 members, whose purpose is the creation of an interest and further study of clinical orthopaedic care through continuing medical education activities.

Affiliated Organizations

Piedmont Orthopedic Society, founded in 1951, a non-profit, educational, and charitable organization with nearly 500 members working to advance the scope and service of Orthopedic Surgery.

Eastern Orthopaedic Association, founded in 1970, whose purpose is to promote, encourage, foster and advance the art of science and orthopaedic surgery and matters related thereto, and to establish a forum for free discussion and teaching of orthopaedic methods and principles among the members.

Missouri State Orthopaedic Association, the first state orthopaedic society on the internet, was established to have physicians volunteer their time to help their professional associations achieve their goals and ultimately improve the quality of orthopaedics provided to Missouri residents. Many advances were made in the activities of the Association in hopes to provide input for legislators regarding important public health and safety issues and to turn public attention to issues concerning orthopaedic conditions and musculoskeletal care.

North Carolina Orthopaedic Association, founded 1946, was established to bring together orthopaedic surgeons of the state who are committed to a high level of professional excellence in Orthopaedics and the overall orthopaedic health and well-being of the citizens of the State. The mission of the association is to advance the science and practice of orthopaedic surgery through education and advocacy on behalf of patients and practitioners, with emphasis on overall quality orthopaedic health care for the state of North Carolina.

Tennessee Orthopaedic Society, founded 1948, is dedicated to increasing public awareness and health care improvement for persons with musculoskeletal impairments. Tennessee Orthopaedic Society supports continuing medical education for its over 350 members and monitors the effects of socio-economic and legislative measures impacting the quality, availability, and cost of health care in orthopaedics.

Florida Orthopaedic Society, affiliated with the Journal of the Southern Orthopaedic Association, was founded in 1947 to raise standards of orthopaedic practices by providing ongoing education, networking, recognition, and certification.
