Posttraumatic Stiffness of the Elbow: Evaluation and Management
This chapter covers the evaluation and management of posttraumatic stiffness of the
elbow. The incidence and causes of elbow stiffness are discussed, followed by a review of pertinent anatomic and physiologic considerations. Important physical examination findings and imaging modalities used evaluation of the stiff elbow are reviewed. Indications for and techniques of non-operative and operative treatment are presented. Both open and arthroscopic techniques for release of elbow contractures are discussed. The chapter concludes with a review of the known outcomes and complications in the management of posttraumatic elbow stiffness.
